Two value bets - 30 Sep

Two value bets.

England League Two, Southend - Shrewsbury
The hosts have noticed three wins in a row (all three without conceding), in the last round trashed Rotherham away. Two important players are back. Shrewsbury defeated Torquay last weekend, but have some injuries in the defence line for this match.
It is third against second, but I think Southend is overpriced.

Bet: Southend -0.25
Odd: 2.16 (188bet)
Stake: 2/10

Ireland 1, Bohemians - St. Patrick`s Athletic
Both sides are fighting for a spot for Europe, precisely Bohs must win to stay in contention. They lost on the road against relegation contender UCD, in the midweek game and have few days less for a rest. Bohemians have same number of wins and defeats at home and against Pats play traditionally tight games. Visitors have five points more than the hosts and four straight wins on the road (two of these in Cup against second league sides) and all without conceding. I expect another tight game, but like the odds for Pats. Same handicap and small stake again.

Bet: St. Patrick's -0.25
Odd: 2.02 (Pinnacle)
Stake: 2/10

Ireland betting, Friday 9 Sep

n
Two value bets for tonight. In Ireland 1 I go on Bohemians. Ladbrokes offers 1.62, my odd is 1.38. They won vs. Drogheda 14 of last 15 (both home and away), but five of last six away won by a goal, so no handicap. In second division, value is on Longford Town. Double chance is at 2.50, while my odd is 2.34.
Despite yesterday’s defeat in Finland, value bets still produce very good results.
Good luck, people!

Drogheda United - Bohemians
Bet: Bohemians
Odd: 1.62 (Ladbrokes)
Stake: 2/10

Limerick FC - Longford Town
Bet: Longford or draw
Odd: 2.50 (William Hill)
Stake: 2/10

Friendlies 17.07. - 3 picks

Wolves should be a bet of the day.McCarthy said he'll name the best team for the game.Bohemians played a league game last night and in mid-week will have a European qualifications.I have no choice than to think today will be a mix of fringe players and youngsters. And I’ll be greedy, once again. Wolves -1ah @ 1.63.  0-3  WON

Barnet have signed 11 new players.Beside they’re few levels below, they’ll definitely need some time to gel up.This should be an easy job for the Gunners.I’ll take Arsenal –2ah @ 2.02.  0-4
 WON

San Jose is an average USA team and they’re playing league currently.Spurs went there preparing for CL.“Arry” has a big number of players who will try to prove themselves and earn a place in the team. And fact is Spurs’ fringe players are very good, actually. My call is Tottenham @ 1.91.  0-0  LOST

Shamrock Rovers - Derry City

After two decades living in the shadow, the most successful Irish club (15 times league champion and 24 cup winner) finally have something to show. After many years playing the games on other team’s grounds, Rovers got their own home (Tallaght Stadium) and this season looks like the start of new golden era for the club. Currently, they hold the second place on the table with six points less (and a game less) than leaders Bohemians and although nobody in the club speaks loudly about that, everybody hopes the title can be conquered. Rovers have incredible record of 11 unbeaten games, five at home (four wins and a draw). In the previous round, against Bohs on the road, team put the excellent defensive display, saving the net and winning a point. For tonight’s encounter, boss Michael O’Neill has some injury concerns. Defender Ian Bermingham has a knee problem and will be sidelined. Midfielders Ollie Cahill and Stephen Rice are recovering from the knocks they got in the game against Bohs, but it is expected they’ll play. As forward Padraig Amond who’s struggling with a knee injury. Winger Sean O’Connor returns from suspension. During the week, Rovers have signed strong defender Pat Sullivan.

Derry City lie on the fourth place on the table, five points less than third Cork City and European qualifications. It seems the players are loosing the breath lately, as they recorded three 0-1 defeats (Dundalk, Drogheda United, Bohemians) and 1-1 home draw against Cork City, from last four games. Another defeat would be a big strike to their European ambitions. Team played hard game in Bulgaria against CSKA Sofia (lost 0-1, again) at thursday night and the big question is how much players will physically recover, especially older players like Peter Hutton who is 36. Also, boss Stephen Kenny will have a difficult task to motivate players for tonight’s very important clash in Dublin. Derry have a lots of problems with scoring, they noticed only 3 goals on last 7 competitive games. Hutton has no other choice, than to set up defensive formation again, hoping one counter attack can bring three points. It will be harder as defenders Peter Hutton and Eddie McCallion are serving one match suspensions.

It’s no doubt Derry will come in the game with thought to keep their net. One point would be a nice achieve. Unfortunately for them, Shamrock have different plans. With a win tonight, Rovers will come on just three points from the title. And they surely count on big financial crisis that Bohs is facing with and potential drop in performances and loosing the points. We won’t see to many goals tonight, but considering all the facts hosts seem close to notice three points. Odds are fine and worth of risk. 888sports offer 2.00. Home win.

Dinamo 3-0 Pyunik

NK Dinamo Zagreb overcame a tricky test from Armenian champions FC Pyunik to run out 3-0 winners and progress out of the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round.

The visitors gave Dinamo a couple of early scares but, led by man of the match Pedro Morales, the Croatian side wrestled the initiative and goals from Marijo Mandžukić, Milan Badelj and Dejan Lovren helped them secure a tie against either FC Salzburg or Bohemian FC in the next phase.

Pyunik had held Dinamo to a goalless draw last week and started off in impressive fashion at the Maksimir Stadium. However, their early vim received a blow on the half-hour mark as Morales set up Mandžukić to give the hosts the lead. Morales was involved again as Dinamo doubled their lead in the 61st minute, Badelj benefiting from the Chilean's vision on this occasion, and Lovren completed the night's scoring soon after.

Red Bull Salzburg - Bohemians

Salzburg is the most dominant club in Austria, thankfully to main sponsor Red Bull. With a very big budget for Austrian conditions, they kept the best player in the club and even strengthened the squad. The biggest signing is new boss, Huub Stevens (ex Dutch side Roda), who was outside European football for a while. Four players came to the club. Thomas Augustinussen (ex Aalborg skipper), Franz Schiemer (from Austria Vienna), Simon Cziommer (from Utrecht) and Dusan Svento (Slovakian from Slavia Prague). Interesting fact is all counted players are defenders. But, it doesn’t mean hosts will have any problem to score. Attacking line is leaded by Marc Janko who scored 39 goals in the previous season in domain league. The aim for this season is group stage of the Champions League and Salzburg will try to finish the job in the first game in front the own fans. The only problem could be this will be the first competitive game in season, while in Irish league 19 rounds have passed. New signing Franz Schiemer isn't available for tonight's game, while striker Zickler is in doubt, but is expected to appear.

Bohemians play in excellent shape, have eight competitive wins from last nine games, have five points more than the chasers and march with the huge steps to another champions title. But, black clouds appeared over the club. Irish press published the story about club’s disaster financial situation. Club is spending about 1.6 million pounds on players’ wages which is over the limit. So, the finance director Chris Brien informed the club’s members they need urgent cash injection, otherwise hard sanctions and move to First Division are already seen. However, the calculation is defending the title in domain competition and progress in Champions League over Salzburg would be enough to cover the debt. Therefore, this game for Irish side means do or die happening. The Gypsies will miss skipper Owen Heary who is suspended and Graham Carey which loan deal couldn’t be extended because the mentioned club’s finance. Lack of quality, visitors will try to compensate with fighting attitude and save the club from bankrupt.

For home side, this game is just warming up before the decisive games. They’ll try to make convincing victory and travel to Ireland without a pressure. Artificial grass won’t be a problem for Bohs, they played last league game (Dundalk, 2-0 away) on it. For them, this is a battle for life and I think they will be able to save the net in the first half. My bet x-1, ht/ft. Odds arround 4.20.

Saturday view

Good day, yesterday. Sligo with bunch of youngsters didn't have a chance, though goalie Brush made another fantastic display. On the other hand, we (Serbs) proved again it is impossible to win without attackers.

.

I couldn't find any pointer for today. Iraq is a favorite vs New Zealand, but odd 1.40 for their win doesn't represent the risk. They put two solid displays, but we don't know how it looks when they have to attack. I don't dare to predict anything here.

Livorno and Brescia will play the re-match for serie a. Livorno is a slight favorite, but mainly because the weird propositions. In case of another draw, extra-time will be played and in case draw stayed, won't be the penalty-kicks, Livorno will win 'cause better league position. Really don't understand. However, gamble bet (and the only for today) on X-1 ht/ft. Just because the type of the game.

.

One full analyze tomorrow. The Pharaons against USA.

Bohemians 2-0 Sligo Rovers

League of Ireland Premier Division leaders Bohemians scored a comprehensive 2-0 victory at Dalymount Park over a makeshift Sligo Rovers side shorn of several key players, writes Shane Murray.
The sides were somehow scoreless at the break despite Bohs dominating possession and chances, with home goalkeeper Brian Murphy a bystander for most of the evening.

The Gypsies finally broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute when Man of the Match Gary Deegan tapped home Anto Murphy's cross-come-shot from close range, while Jason Byrne slotted home a 72nd-minute penalty after Steve Feeney had handled in the box.

A crippling injury crisis forced Sligo Rovers into fielding a number of youngsters in the loss to Bohemians, with striker Paul Curry making his debut. Rafael Cretaro and Danny Ventre added to their growing list of casualties this week.

Bohemians - Sligo Rovers

At the half of competition, future champions still can’t be predicted. Bohemians is the main favorite (as usual), but Derry City (a point less) and Cork City (two less) are breathing on the neck. At home, Bohs is more than dominant. Six wins from eight games (one draw and defeat from Cork 0-1), with 16 goals scored and just two conceded! After the unexpected disaster against St. Patricks Athletic on the road (1-3), team reacted positively and scored eight goals in cup victory over Mayfield United last week. Manager Pat Fenlon has almost a full squad to choose from, with no injuries, and only midfielder Graham Carey is out of contention due to a one-match suspension. Tonight’s win would erase the St Pats defeat from their memory. And additional motive is the fact Derry will very probably take three points from their game against Bray Wanderers.

After 16 games played, Sligo sit seventh in the Premier Division table, 15 points behind today’s opponent. They have picked up just nine points from a possible 24 away from home this season, winning just twice, beating Dundalk 2-0 and Derry City 2-1. Into this game lads come after two excellent FAI Cup displays against Cork. After a 2-2 draw on the road, at tuesday, they defeated at home the big favorite 2-1, with both goals scored by excellent Rafael Cretaro plus some fantastic goalkeeping from Richard Brush. But, the victory after the extra time brought a plenty of problems. The missing list is very long. Stephen Parkhouse is long time injured and still out, Gavin Peers and Shaun Holmes injured too, while Jason Noctor and Richard Ryan are suspended! Boss Paul Cooke said in the paper he’ll have only eleven fit players. True or not, five certainly won’t play. And the rest of the crew is exhausted.

Sligo proved many times that they can fight with the best, but tonight “won’t be their fault”. On the other hand, Bohs is nervous (and focused) because they can’t make a convincing advantage on the table. I don’t think Sligo can put some serious resist here, and going on home win with two, or more goals difference. The best odd is at 888sports, 2.15.

Sweden - Denmark

Bohemians who conceded 7 goals from past 15 games, previous night from "without seven players" St.Patrik's conceded three times!? I'm speechless.

.

Lars Lagerback’s lads started this qualification campaign with a clear intention to improve the impression from Euro 2008. But just a single win and three draws (all 0-0) are enough recently just for fifth place with big seven points less (and a game less) than a leader, today’s opponent, Denmark. Sweden has to start collecting the points to involve in the fight for first two places. Squad scored just two times in four games (both times against Hungary, 2-1) and good news for Lagerback is he’ll have best team available, including Ibrahimovic and Larsson. Biggest problem for them is lack of midfield, strikers are usually cut from the play and hardly make the goal opportunities. Players use every opportunity to underline excellent dressing room atmosphere and their determination to qualify for South Africa. Anders Svensson has some slight injury problems, but he’s expected to play. No other worries for Lagerback.

The visitors surprisingly hold the top of group 1. After the qualifying opener, game in Hungary, not convincing performance and a goalless draw, nobody could predict their raising. But, Denmark tight four consecutive wins and announce their candidacy for top two spots. But, the fact is two of that four wins were against Malta and Albania is beaten at home. The fourth win was in Portugal, on paper, the main candidate for the place number one. During the whole game, Danish were inferior, but with the goals in the game finish, they made a first class surprise and noticed three points. Denmark is in very good position before today’s match and would be more than satisfied with one point. But, that will be hard to achieve. Morten Olsen has a lots of problems with the injuries. Martin Laursen, very important player in the defence line has retired after the injury. Injury of second central defender, Per Krøldrup, made a big problem. Instead these two, Kjær and Møller Christensen are expected to play. Daniel Jensen (midfielder), Leon Andreasen (midfielder) and Jon Dahl Tomasson (forward) are also injured. So, injury list clearly dedicate Denmark’s intention on counter-attacks.

Sweden has a complete and fully motivated squad. I don’t expect great performance from them, but duo Ibrahimovic-Larsson have a big advantage against young and inexperienced Denmark’s defence. Some corner, or free-kick can be decisive. Visitors will try to defend, but I think the draw on a half-time is the best they can achieve (think about gamble ht/ft x-1). William Hill offers 2.05. Home win.

.

And I'm going for our lads against Austria. Home handicap win.

St. Patrick's Athletic 3 - 1 Bohemians

St. Patrick's Athletic stunned champions Bohemians with a vintage performance to earn a 3-1 win at Richmond Park.
It was the first time in six visits to Inchicore Bohs have been defeated. More importantly for Pat Fenlon's men, however, is that the result sees their lead at the top of the table reduced to just one point.
With Cork City having drawn and Derry City having won, the Gypsies lead at the top of the table is now reduced.
The Saints came at their visitors from the start but it took until the 55th minute for them to get on the scoresheet, Ryan Guy netting a neat finish.
Saints fans were sensing a shock on the cards and their lead was doubled on 68 minutes when centre half Jason Gavin snuck up in the box to make it 2-0.
Bohs were stunned and worse was to follow on 76 minutes when John Lester scored a beautiful long range effort to give the home side a 3-0 lead.
Although Owen Heary managed to pull one back at the death for the champions, it was too little too late for the Gypsies.

St. Patrick's Athletic: Rogers, Maher, Haverty, Harris, Gavin, Partridge, Lynch, Lester, Guy, Moran, Stevens

Bohemians: Murphy, Murphy, Oman, Powell, Cronin, Brennan, Carey, Keegan, Shelley, Byrne, Fenn, Crowe

St. Patricks Ath. - Bohemians

A million euros question. What is worse? To bet on low odd and loose your money, or to miss a very high one and win nothing? However, I think this will stop a bad run.

.

In the last two seasons. St. Patrick finished as a runner-up. Club had one of the largest budgets, but failure to win the league and big financial losses in the previous year, were the reasons for the club’s decision to revert to part-time football for the 2009 season. They lost some very good players and manager Jeff Kenna has an impossible task to reach top three and European qualifications. After 15 rounds the Saints keep 7th place with big 15 points less than today’s opponent, leaders Bohemians. They have just a single win from last eight competitive games (Dundalk away, 1-0), two draws and five defeats. Don’t know for a win at home in last four games. With the injury list, the things become worse. Darragh Ryan (defender) and Gareth O’Connor (midfielder) both picked up injuries against Derry and are expected to join Alan Cawley (mid), Gints Freimans (striker), Gary Dempsey (mid), Mark Leech (str) on the sidelines. Stuart Byrne (mid) is suspended, while John Lester (mid) returns having served his one match suspension. Bobby Ryan (mid) is expected to make his return and to play a part in the match.

Bohemians is the last season champion and cup-winner that finished 19 points clear of second-placed St Patrick’s Athletic, with only 13 goals conceded. They will be again the most serious candidate to win the title. Their performances this season have recognizable pattern. Three wins in a row, all with clean sheet (in past 15 rounds conceded just 7 goals, btw.). They made two consecutive defeats on the road against two of three biggest competitors (Derry City 2-3 and Shamrock Rovers 1-2), but at last friday defeated the third - Cork City, away also (1-0) and with a win this week against Galway silenced the doubters who thought they were beginning to show a few weaknesses. Boss Pat Fenlon, despite highly pleased with performance against Galway, has his own injury concerns ahead of the game. Mark Rossiter (mid) remains out with a groin injury, Joseph Ndo (mid) misses out with a hamstring problem, while Jason McGuinness (def) is suspended. Glen Crowe (str) and Owen Heary (def) have both returned to training following hamstring injuries, and Fenlon hopes to have both available for selection. Bohs won six from last seven matches at Richmond Park.

The Saints will miss seven players. Even with the best eleven they would hardly resist against Bohemians. On the other hand, visitors will probably be the favorites in all league games till the end. The bookies don’t respect the fact St. Patrick is one of the biggest names in Ireland and offer, for away wins, unusually low odds. Anyway, I go on Bohs to win. Bookie Sunderlands offers 2.35, William Hill and the others, about 1.80. Away win.
