Two rounds left in French second league. Clermont holds the 13th position, five points from relegation zone. Tonight, need one point to theoretically avoid relegation. They have three wins from last five games, two consecutive home wins (Reims 1-0 and Sedan Ardennes 3-0). In the last round, they missed the first “match point” against drowning Berrichonne Chateauroux, on the road. Clermont put a solid display against more than motivated hosts, but the result at the end was negative, 0-1. But, the real opportunity missed on previous away game, against mediocre Dijon. “Grab a point” tactic revenged and hosts noticed the second win from 18 games. Anyway, Clermont still has a fate in their own hands. Opponent is more than appropriate, no injuries and suspendings, motivation is high and I can’t see any reason for leaving the status decision for the last round and away game.

Bastia is holding the 11th place. They have seven points more than relegation zone and for them season is already over. Recent shape is not something to be proud on. Just one win from last six games. But, on the road it is a disaster. Five games without a win, three defeats. Last win (and the only in 2009.) they conquered against Amiens, 1-0. But, globally they have just four wins from 18 away games, scoring just 9 (nine) goals! The bill for the bad results, first paid manager, new one have been nominated for the next year. Beside the lack of motivation, and angry manager, Bastia has a lots of problems with injured players. André, Mendy, Ben Zekri, Ghisolfi, Barthélémy are all out and few more is in doubt. Goalie Agostini will make his debut in the first team. I’m not sure I’ve understood correctly (precisely, can’t really believe in it), but I found the info he’s the fifth goalkeeper in the club!!! I haven’t found any reason that gives Bastia a one percent of chance to make a positive result. Except, to keep the net, somehow.

The only thing that calls on caution is level of this league. Clermont shouldn’t have any problem with discouraged and clashed with the injuries, visitors. Motivation level and team quality will make the difference and decide this game. Best odd offers Pinnacle, 2.04. Home win.

Will try to forget previous week as fast as I can. Bad luck followed (let to be honest) with some wrong judgements resulted with worst run of results that I remember. Little satisfaction was game on Valley where Charlton trashed Norwich, realising my 3.65 bet. Bad (or maybe not) thing is recent offer is very poor and fast recover is not possible. Anyway I won't make the same mistake and will skip Skandinavian games (at least till I will be able to see some consistence in team's form, ambition...).

Two big semi-finals are in front. Tomorrow Chelsea will host Barca. Home win will be my bet, but tomorrow about that. Tonight, Emirates will be the place where will be decided the first traveller to Rome. Arsenal will try to make a wonder (I think, that's a correct word). We'll watch surely different game than the first. Arsenal knows how to beat Utd. (Chelsea and Liverpool, too). Robin Van Persie has fully recovered and Arsene Wenger can count on him. Gunners are the strongest when nobody counts on them! But, statistic is against home side. It says Arsenal haven't eliminated some English team, ever. They haven't ever passed after 0-1 defeat in the first game (four times). Man.Utd. has 25 games in CL without a defeat! In last four CL away games, they didn't concede a single goal! That facts are enough to be frighten. For me, the most important thing is Vidic and Rio will play together. I think Utd. can (and will) score and it's impossible to concede three times. I don't even think about betting on this one. Will be a spectacle and I'll just enjoy in the footie.

For fans of fixed games will be interesting in France 2, Vannes Olimpique hosts Berr. Chateauroux. Home side is safe in the middle, while visitors are fighting to avoid relegation. Odds for an away win is about 3.10. I've found on some different forums and sites this game as a pick of the day. Simple logic: hosts don't need, visitors do. But, Vannes has just one defeat from 16 home games (France 2 is also known as a "home wins" league), lost vs Bastia 0-1, 28.11.2008.. Chateauroux won in the last away game (Sedan Ardennes, 4-3), but, before that they had a disaster run of results on the road.They're as Vannes a typical home team. Chateauroux - Dijon

French second league, round 29. Chateauroux is four points under the relegation line and every of the next ten games will be decisive. It seems the players feel the situation, four points frome last two home games ( Tours 1-1, Boulogne 2-0). In the last round they made a decent performance against Metz, loosing 1-0. Today problem is missing the best goalscorer Mulenga (6 goals). And one more fact for the hosts, from their last five games on this pitch, Chateauroux won four, with one draw.

Dijon lies in the safe middle table, nine points more than Chateauroux. In the last round they beat Bastia 2-0, that the first positive result after five competitive games. As the most teams in French second, they play much better at home than on the road, just one win in 14 games. Big problems with the missings. Aubameyang (best goalscorer) and Batoménila went for Gabon national team game, while the goalie Bonnefoi is injured. Key defender Zywiecki is suspended, Goulard too.

This will be the game between fully motivated host and decrepit and relaxed visitor. Logic doesn't always works in French second, but this looks like the pick of the day. And odds look really good, William Hill offers 2.15, 888, Expekt and the most of others 2.10. Home win.
