Considering recent form (especially at home), Everton are one of the top teams in Premier. When their injury crisis started to decrease, team’s shape improved and I fancy them to have a strong finish of the season. At home they’re unbeaten in eight league matches, winning the last six, including top sides like
Since he became a manager, Owen Coyle made an excellent progress in the club and
Everton are in uptrend, they overcame the injury crisis, possess quality for top six in my opinion and they especially have big inspiration when play at Goodison.

Spurs are currently fifth on the table with three points less than Man.City. They’re struggling on the road, but showing much better performances at White Hart Lane. At home, most problems they have had against defensively oriented teams like Hull (0-0), Wolves (0-1) and Stoke (0-1). At Friday, came news from Spurs’ camp they’re hit by a virus and 18 players and stuff are infected. But, it seems it was only Redknapp’s psychological warming-up for Everton. True is Palacios and Corluka are having some problems with a stomach bug and their appearance is doubtful. Real problem for “Arry” is the condition of Defoe and Crouch. Both will face a late fitness test and I expected one of them (Defoe more likely) to start the game alongside excellent Pavlyuchenko.
David Moyes crew was knocked from the Europe in Lisbon on a kind of humiliating way. Problem for him for today’s game is all players looked jaded after that game. Good thing for them is Everton turned the corner in Premier and overcame results crisis caused by large number of injuries. The Toffees have noticed just a single defeat (Liverpool away, 0-1) in last twelve games and in last two games at Goodison defeated giants (Chelsea 2-1 and Man.Utd. 3-1). They also won at last three league visits to White Hart Lane. So, despite European exit they definitely don’t lack with self confidence for today’s game. Beside fatigue, main problem for Moyes is missing of some very important players. Skipper Cahill, Fellaini and defenders Hibbert and Senderos. Good thing is Distin and Heitinga are available again and Jagielka already made his return. Everton have managed to keep only one clean sheet in their last nine league matches away from home and they have scored in 11 of their last 12 league games.
This is very important game for both sides. Spurs have huge attacking potential, but in last few games were showing some vulnerabilities in back line and just thankfully to Gomes and luck weren’t punished. Everton like to play against Spurs and I think Moyes won’t practice defensively 4-5-1. Despite the fact none of the last eight league games between these sides have been won by the home team I give an advantage to Spurs, but see goals at decent odds as a better option. Over.

Everton struck at the death to win at home for the first time since September and condemn 10-man Burnley to a ninth successive league game without a win.
Substitute James Vaughan turned home a Marouane Fellaini cross from close range with seven minutes remaining.
Steven Pienaar then sealed the win in injury time after being fed by Yakubu.
David Nugent hit the post for Burnley, but the turning point for the Clarets came when Stephen Jordan saw red for a second bookable offence on the hour.
Everton's victory, their first in the league since early November, ends a winless streak at Goodison Park stretching back to mid-autumn, when Blackburn were on the receiving end of a 3-0 defeat.
More importantly for manager David Moyes, who could only watch with mounting dismay when his side's early-season lethargy was compounded by a wholesale injury crisis, Everton now lie 11th in the league table, five points clear of the relegation zone.
Having previously picked up just a solitary point on their travels, Burnley arrived on Merseyside with the worst away record in the division, but a battling performance belied that discouraging statistic.
Burnley gave a decent account of themselves throughout, so much so that - despite Everton's numerical advantage - the outcome remained in the balance until the dying minutes.
Everton manager David Moyes on James Vaughan:
"I am really pleased for James, who has had a terrible time with injuries for more than two years.
"This time he has come back without even a reserve run-out.
"He has missed much of his development, so we are just trying to nurse him through to get him back to what he was like as an outstanding teenager."
"We played really well in the first half but didn't get the goal our play merited.
"But overall we deserved the victory.
Burnley manager Owen Coyle on Everton's first goal:
"Yakubu was definitely offside, he is a big lad and our keeper could not see the play.
"Howard Webb is a good referee and he was in no position to see it, but he should expect to get assistance from his linesman, who could surely see.
"It influenced the game. I just want fair decisions and that was not fair.
"It's a mixture of emotions, frustration and anger, because we had opportunities to score the first goal of the game.
"But if we continue playing and performing as well as that, we'll be fine.

For Toffees this season so far looks like endless nightmare. Instead a battle for
.
After excellent start of the season, newcomers from Turf Moor felt in the crisis of results. They’re in the winless run of seven league games and hold 13th place (one point more than today’s opponent). On the road have taken just a single point from nine games (Man.City 3-3)! But, as Everton they’re performances are also above the results. In last two games on the road (two 0-2 defeats) were a little bit unlucky to get something from it. Against Pompey created plenty of real goal chances, but didn’t score, while vs. Wolves were short for a clear penalty kick and also missed few very good chances. Their main problem is attractive and offensive style of play that has brought some results at home, but on the road causes defense has been leaking too much goals. Manager Owen Coyle also has big defensive worries, as pair of central defenders, Clarke Carlisle and Steven Caldwell, missed the 1-1 draw against
.
This game looks like to be, or not to be for a home side. They desperately need a win and will host a team which has 8 defeats from 9 away games. On the other hand, Toffees still have lots of problems in back line with injuries. Neville is maybe fit but lacks in competitive games and his return could even cause additional problems behind.

Everton have noticed a run of six competitive games without a win (3 draws and 3 defeats). Main reason for that and for underachieving so far (only 3 wins from 10 games in Premier and 13th place) is injury list where in one moment nine regular players appeared. Moyes still has a lots of problems with injured players, but beside Arteta (has repeated his knee injury and will be absent for a while) situation becomes better. The biggest problem lately, defense line should be decent with Hibbert, Yobo, Distin and Baines. In first game, Toffees got not a slap, but fist in the face (0-5). Moyes tried to rest some players, push some youngsters on the big scene and suffered pure humiliation. Louis Saha is in doubt, while John Heitinga and Lucas Neill are both ineligible. Everton have a great record in
Benfica have decent squad and their performances so far look respectable. Strong midfield with Pablo Aimar as a playmaker, new Man.Utd. transfer target Ángel Di María on the wing and Saviola and Nuno Gomes in front scored 33 goals on last 10 games. But, the obvious is they’re not the same side on away games. For the weekend lost vs. Sporting Braga 0-2, in Europa League lost in
Dignity is hurt and Everton seek revenge. No room for resting the players and I believe the best eleven will play (maybe without unfit Saha). Win tonight would boost team morale and game like this is necessary for getting back on track. Benfica won’t surrender, but would be absolutely satisfied with a draw. Little problem is bookies also got the latest team info and odds have decreased in past few hours. However, still worth of a bet. So, 1 dnb.

Everton started new Premier League campaign with three defeats from opening four games and although Moyes and other officials claim opposite, Joleon Lescot’s departure is a big hit for club from Goodison. Defence line is so far the weakest link on the pitch. Another hit came from medical report as another key defender and skipper, Phil Neville, is likely to be out for three months with knee ligament damage. Silvain Distin and Joseph Yobo simply need some time to gel up, while new signing from Atletico Madrid John Heitinga is ineligible for Europa League. But, that’s not the end, another defender, Tony Hibbert, is suspended. So, serious problem have become a real headache. Good news are Everton is still a big favorite tonight and between resting key players and winning for raising self confidence, David Moyes will very probably choose the second option (as in previous occasions). £10mill. weight signing from Locomotiv Moscow, Diniyar Bilyaletdinov, will finally make his full debut (so far just three minutes on the pitch). Other players if fully fit and only dilemma is will Moyes rest some of his keys for Blackburn at Sunday.
Beside they finished fourth in the previous campaign in domain league, AEK is probably the best Greek club beside Olympiakos and Pao. They started domain campaign with both opening wins, while in European previous round eliminated decent Romanians – Vaslui (1-2 away, 3-0 at home). They’re typical represent of Greek football. Players with great technical skill, they have a high level of fighting spirit and their play is really nice to watch. But, at the same tame, shaky defences (AEK’s goalie-Sebastian Saja is in more than decent shape, though) and lack of physical strength and tactics usually bring a bad outcome when they play in European competitions. AEK have noticed just a single win in last eleven European games on the road and their record is especially bad when they play against British clubs (Everton haven’t lost at home in Europe for about four years, btw.). No big missings for tonight match and despite AEK can produce some good display and score, they’re still underdogs at Goodison Park. Their chances are in underestimating by the opponent and in Everton’s defence line.
Home side will try to return some of their self confidence and fill the Greek’s net, but at the same time their problems in defence line shouldn’t be overlooked. AEK will try to make some mess and avoid defeat at least, but true is anything except Everton’s win would be a first class surprise. However, I see goals on both sides and odds on over are more than acceptable. 2.12 at Pinnacle. Over.
