Champions League 31. March

Arsenal – Barcelona, Arsenal corner handicap (-0.5) @ 2.00, Expekt

If it is any other top English club, I would take offered odd with a big smile. But Arsenal… At this moment it looks Barca is everything that Gunners want to be. And I really can’t predict final result. I can imagine 1-1 or 2-1, but will leave it.
I see Arsenal as a side which will have bigger possession and good pace. Partially because Barca’s tactic on away games in Europe (6 draws and 3 wins in last 9). They’ll sit back and wait some stupitidy by Almunia or Campbell most likely, or simply a chance for good counter attack. Guardiola would be satisfied with a scoring draw. Wenger would not. And Arsenal will have the advantage after set pieces, I guess Wenger knows it.

Inter – CSKA, over 2.5 @ 2.05, Stan James

1.40 for a home win is a rubbish in my opinion. Handicap, too risky. Mourinho will have same players that knocked Chelsea. They’re big favorites no doubt and they’re surely capable of scoring few tonight. On the other hand, CSKA like to play counter attacks, sometimes look very dangerous and can score. I think their chance is tonight, not in re-match. Like the odds for goals. Over 2.5.

Nice little double for me. (Those are best current odds for both bets,bet365 offer 1.95 for both.)

Bayern Munich 2-1 Man Utd

Ivica Olic grabbed an injury-time winner as Bayern Munich drew first blood in their Champions League quarter-final with Manchester United.
United had taken the lead after just 66 seconds when Wayne Rooney volleyed in six yards out from Nani's free-kick.
But Franck Ribery's deflected free-kick set up a dramatic finale, rounded off by Olic's cool run and finish after a defensive error by Patrice Evra.
United's misery was made complete when Rooney limped off with an ankle injury.
And the England striker's injury could yet prove to be the major story of the night, with the 24-year-old apparently in severe pain after turning over on his ankle in the build-up to Bayern's winner.
Either way, it was a poor night for United, who failed to build on Rooney's opener, allowing Bayern to take control of a tie now nicely poised ahead of the second leg at Old Trafford on 7 April.
Sir Alex Ferguson's side will comfort themselves in the knowledge that they have that away goal, but should Rooney be missing in a week's time it is clear United have plenty of work to do to combat a Bayern side who are likely to be buoyed by the return of key winger Arjen Robben after a calf problem. And while United must wait and see if he is fit to start the second leg or, indeed, Sunday's Premier League match with Chelsea, England coach Fabio Capello will also undoubtedly be interested in news on the severity of the frontman's injury.

Bayern Munchen - Manchester United

Bayern  are approaching the finish of the season with hopes they can win the title and to progress as far as it is possible in CL. At Saturday will face Schalke in something like league final. In CL they turned the corner in Turin with a sensational win over Juve. But, after recent happenings in Italian club, I’m wondering in a real value of that achievement. In previous round, they knocked Fiorentina with two not so convincing performances. Boss van Gaal has serious problems with his key players. Robben (14 goals) suffered an injury at Saturday and was substituted. Many mind-games regarding his appearance, but I think we can’t expect his maximum anyway. Ribery has an ankle injury. He’ll surely appear, but I question his dedication to this game as he already “changed the club”, also he couldn’t be proud on his recent form. Key striker, Mario Gomez has just recovered from an injury and I don’t think he’s fully fit. And probably real key man, native Bavarian Schweinsteiger, is suspended. Wouldn’t write them off from tonight’s game, but those four are best players in my opinion.

As the season comes to end, United have been improving their performance and have noticed seven competitive wins in a row. With a return of Rio and Vidic got the iron in defence line and with Rooney in a sensational shape they can hope in a successful finish. As Bayern, they’ll also face main contender for domain title, Chelsea at Saturday. Sir Alex was gambling vs. Bolton, resting Ferdinand and Rooney and both are fit. No other injury concerns. United haven’t lost any of previous 16 away games in CL! Ferguson will probably set his favorite formation is such occasions, 4-5-1 and hope for another 1-0 win.

For me, visitors are clear favorites for progress. They’re technically and tactically better, in a better shape and have more self-confidence. I definitely can not fully exclude a probability of a scoring draw. Ferguson would be satisfied, I think. But on the other hand, I don’t think Bayern have a chance to win. Odds are not so high, but worth a shot. Dnb 2.

Newcastle 2-0 Nottm Forest

Championship leaders Newcastle United could be promoted to the Premier League as early as the weekend after a hard-fought win over Nottingham Forest.
Should United beat Peterborough and Forest lose to Bristol City, the Magpies will bounce back into the top flight after one season away.
They secured a 2-0 win over promotion rivals Forest after substitute Shola Ameobi scored in the 71st minute.
Jose Enrique blasted the ball past Lee Camp for Newcastle's second late on.
Despite a goalless opening 70 minutes, this top-of-the-table clash proved a gripping encounter from start to finish, with Forest playing their part as they looked to bring their run of six away defeats to an end.

Newcastle boss Chris Hughton:
"It's that close. We are where we are and we thoroughly deserve to be where we are and if [winning promotion] happens on Saturday, then no one will be more delighted than me.
"But the most important thing is we have to win first.
"The nature of our business is you have to enjoy the wins and it will be a nice day tomorrow at the training ground.
"I'm quite sure everybody will have a spring in their step. But we very quickly have to bring them back down to earth.
"If we are able to take a spare chunk of what we had tonight into [Saturday's game at Peterborough] then we have got a good chance of coming away with a victory."
Nottingham Forest boss Billy Davies:
"I'm not admitting defeat, I am saying I think Newcastle United, in my opinion, will finish the job.
"We've got a challenge for second place that is very much still on the go."

Newcastle United - Nottingham Forest

Nothing much to say about Newcastle. They’re far best team in Championship and will reach direct promotion. However, thankfully to away displays and numberless draws, their points’ advantage has been melted and they have just a single point more than WBA (have two games in hand though). They’re in the run of 9 games without a defeat, six consecutive wins at home, one was with 2 goals margin other with 3 or more. In total at home they have 15 wins and 4 draws and scary goal difference with 46 goals scored and just 9 conceded! Lovenkrands and Smith are returning, defenders Williamson and Hall as well. Newcastle have won three of their last four matches against Forest, scoring nine goals in the process and conceding only two.

Forest are third, they’re 9 points far from WBA and direct promotion and also have a game less. So, theoretically it could be 6 points. But while they’re shinning at home, they’re shape on the road is disgusting and should be a shame for one promotion chaser. Six defeats in a row, against the clubs from the bottom and middle of the table (Derby, Coventry, Doncaster, Leicester, Preston and Barnsley) and just 3 (three) goals scored in those 6! They’ll give their maximum against top side and maybe will try to get closer to 2nd place but the sad true is they look clueless on the road and if start the game with more attacking attitude it would just make the job easier for the Toon. Defenders Perch and Lynch are in doubt and will face a late fitness test. Forest's win at home in October was their first league victory against Newcastle for 21 years.

Newcastle will reach the promotion, it’s out of question. But, they’ll surely try to secure first place for their pride and also haven’t forgotten a defeat on the road vs. Forest  (0-1). On the other hand, visitors should be satisfied with a play-off spot. More courage tonight would only mean more balls in the net. My bet is -0.75 ah at 1.95.

View on hm... negative weekend

Birmingham – Arsenal

"Brum have nothing to play for, but will try to give some importance to themselves in a title race. They won’t look tired. On the other hand, this is the highest importance for the Gunners. They definitely have potential to score few. Over 2.5 for me. bet365 offer 1.88, Pinnacle 1.83."

1-1 lost!

.

Tottenham Hotspur - Portsmouth

"To make a good result at White Hart Lane, team should have very strong defensive abilities. Pompey currently don’t look even competitive. Defensive line with James on goal (made a sensational error vs. Chelsea) doesn’t promise anything more than another defeat with big margin. My bet is -2 ah. Pinnacle offer 2.11."

2-0 draw

.

Bolton - Manchester United

"Utd have been doing hard all season to reach the top and I can’t imagine they lose the points against Bolton. However, they’ll try to keep some energy for Champions League game and won’t suggest any big handicap. Bet is Utd -1 ah. "

0-4 win!

.

Sheffield United - Scunthorpe

"Scunny will fight, they need points but feel safe as Palace continued with their free fall. On the other hand hosts are chasing play-off. They definitely have quality for that, I expect very strong squad for this game and in such occasions, Bramall Lane become a hell place for visiting teams. I predict a win with few goals margin and choose -1 ah. 2.09 at Pinnacle."

0-1 lost!

.

I'm dissapointed with Gunners, but really shocked with Sheff Utd. It was, actually my main pick of the weekend. I didn't have time to post here (posted only at SoccerVista)  a gamble Blackburn 2-2 ht/ft, but at the end a negative weekend and worst week in 2010.

With a waiting for better days, more will follow.

Good luck to all.

Manchester United are considering a move for 24-year-old Schalke goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who is valued by the Bundesliga club at about £10m. (Daily Mirror)

And Geovanni's team-mate, midfielder Jimmy Bullard, will be top of Newcastle's shopping list if the Magpies secure promotion to the Premier League. Bullard, 30, has only started eight games since a £5m move 14 months ago but scored in Saturday's win against his former club Fulham.(The Sun)
Derby County manager Nigel Clough is chasing Den Haag midfielder Danny Buijs.(Daily Mirror)

OTHER GOSSIP

Roy Keane will be sacked as Ipswich manager this week, although he could make a quick return to work, with Celtic considering making him Tony Mowbray's successor.(The Guardian)
But West Ham boss Gianfranco Zola will remain in his post at least until the end of the season, despite a six-game losing streak that has left the Hammers only a point above the relegation zone. The Italian, who said he would consider his future in the wake of Saturday's loss to Stoke, has the backing of senior players.(The Times)
Or, Zola will not return to the club after taking flight to Sardinia following Saturday's home loss.(The Independent)
However, a friend of Zola's has spoken to him and learnt that he has no intention of walking out on the job and will be in charge for Sunday's trip to Everton.(Daily Mail)
Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas faces a race to be fit for Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final, first-leg against Barcelona. The former Barca trainee could be joined on the sidelines by Abou Diaby, while Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta will miss the tie with a hamstring strain.(The Guardian)

A group of Rangers fans have taken the first tentative steps towards a potential takeover of the club. The Rangers Supporters Trust has sent an exploratory document and members hope to buy the shares of majority shareholder and former chairman Sir David Murray.(Daily Mirror)
Chris Hughton has confirmed he will remain as Newcastle manager next season and insists he is keen to keep both striker Andy Carroll and captain Steven Taylor at the club, despite the pair allegedly being involved in a training-ground row that left Taylor with a broken jaw.(Daily Mirror)

AND FINALLY

Football fans will be given the right to buy their club under new proposals announced by the Labour government. Under the proposal, fan groups would get priority over other bidders. (The Times)
West Ham had a novel approach to combating Stoke midfielder Rory Delap's long throws on Saturday - deploying advertising hoardings within feet of the pitch. They even made an announcement over the public address system for a ball boy to replace a hoarding that had been knocked over. (The Sun)

www.bbc.co.uk

Sheffield United - Scunthorpe

Sheffield United are 10th, seven points far from play-off zone. They have had two problems recently. Their sensationally bad run on the road. Seven consecutive defeats (one goal scored) and two draws in last two games. And injury crisis that forced them to loan players. But, situation has been improved on that field as skipper and key defender Chris Morgan returns to the squad after suspension. Boss Blackwell was forced to play with just one player in attack, Richard Cresswell (4 goals in last 3 home games). For today’s game two important players will have a late fitness test, key striker Darius Henderson and another striker Henri Camara. I expect Henderson from the start. Blades last time lost at home 2nd November (0-1 vs. Newcastle) and since than have 8 wins and 3 draws. Also, they have kept clean sheets in eight of their last 11 home league games.

Scunny are 20th with five points more than clubs in relegation zone (have a game in the hand) and it seems they’re on the good way too keep the status. They’ve noticed two crucial wins in last two rounds against direct opponents from the bottom, Plymouth and Peterborough. However, it is fair to say one of those was hit by injury crisis and second is far worst in the Championship. Also, their record on the road is not something that should be proud with. They’ve noticed just 12 points (just Posh are worse) and conceded 42 goals (the biggest number in the league). Major concern for manager Adkins is condition of best player and key striker, Gary Hooper after his injury. Interesting thing is Adkins removed his main man from the squad for match vs. Newcastle on the road, as he kept him from potential injury and for more important games. I won’t be surprised to see same thing again.

Scunny will fight, they need points but feel safe as Palace continued with their free fall. On the other hand hosts are chasing play-off. They definitely have quality for that, I expect very strong squad for this game and in such occasions, Bramall Lane  become a hell place for visiting teams. I predict a win with few goals margin and choose -1 ah. 2.09 at Pinnacle.

Bolton - Manchester United

Owen Coyle has been doing a very good job since he took over a charge in Bolton. They’ve accomplished (in my opinion) the primary mission and secure the status in Premier. They’re 8 points far from relegation zone and just wonder should happen to see them in Championship next season. He actually is doing the same thing as in Burnley, making from home pitch a fortress with lack of attention on away games. They have 4 games at home without a defeat with 4 clean sheets! It came against mainly bottom sides, however (Burnley, Wolves , Wigan and Fulham). Only clash against one of the top sides finished with easy defeat (0-2, Arsenal). Defender Gretar Steinsson is suspended, while Gary Cahill has recovered and could appear. Bolton are the only team in the Premier League who have not taken a single point off a team from the 'Big Four' this season.

United are approaching the final part of the season with a point more than Chelsea and I think they’ll hardly lose the points till the end. Ferguson even talked about goal difference (have same as Chelsea) as a potential decisive factor. However, the biggest benefits for Utd (beside Rooney’s sensational shape) are Rio and Vidic who play on the highest standards again. It’s also important for today’s game, as Bolton’s main weapon is set pieces (scored 21 goal, highest number in PL). They have Bayern on the corner, but I don’t expect any kind of easier approach at Reebok. The stake is too big. Man Utd have won 9 of the last 10 meetings against Bolton, and lost only one of their 10 Premier League games at Wanderers. Rooney (should be fit) has scored 6 goals in his last 4 league matches against Bolton.

Utd have been doing hard all season to reach the top and I can’t imagine they lose the points against Bolton. However, they’ll try to keep some energy for Champions League game and won’t suggest any big handicap. Bet is Utd -1 ah.

Tottenham Hotspur - Portsmouth

Spurs are 4th and thankfully to City’s failure against Everton, have two points advantage and they’re closest to CL spot. Second half in mid-week game vs. Fulham showed they can cope with the missings of some key players. They look very strong at home with 10 wins out of 15 games (2 draws and 3 defeats). I’m not concerned by the fact 2 of 3 defeats came from Stoke and Wolves (both were very, very lucky to win 1-0). Wolves thankfully to life display by goalie Myhill kept the clean sheet (0-0). Spurs attack in waves and look very safe and consistent. They have four competitive wins in a row at home and 3 of them were with 2 or more goals margin. Spurs’ target is Champions League, they’ll be focused and fully motivated. Very good news is Tom Huddlestone is returning to the squad. Some rumors say Defoe could play, but I don’t expect him in game except in case of negative result. Excellent Pavlyuchenko (9 goals in his last 8 appearances) is in doubt, but close to appear. Bassong, Palacios and Walker will have a late fitness test. Corluka is out along with Jenas, King and Lennon.

Nothing much to say about Pompey. They have no worries as they’re sure travelers to Championship. Big boost came from FA as they got a permission to sell the players before the regular transfer market. Players’ motivation will surely be higher, but on the other hand we can expect plenty of individual efforts in attempt to impress the scouts. They’re poor travelers, lost 11 out 14 games and scored just 8 goals (conceded 29). Their game against top sides all look the same, early conceded goal, heads down and few more goals till the end. They conceded 4 goals at Anfield and Emirates and 5 at Old Trafford ( 5 at home at mid week vs. Chelsea). Also, no one knows which players will appear as the injury/unavailable list looks endless. Belhadj, Ben Haim, Utaka, Boateng, Diop,Yebda, Dindane, O'Hara, Rocha, Smith. 10 players! The biggest miss is best player at the moment, Jamie O’Hara (have lost 6 out of 7 without him), who can not play against his parent club. Grant was disabled in intention to save the club from relegation, he’ll have a chance to do something in Cup on Wembley (also vs. Spurs) and maybe he’ll try to keep his cards as a secret. That should mean nothing else than easy defeat today.

To make a good result at White Hart Lane, team should have very strong defensive abilities. Pompey currently don’t look even competitive. Defensive line with James on goal (made a sensational error vs. Chelsea) doesn’t promise anything more than another defeat with big margin. My bet is -2 ah. Pinnacle offer 2.11.

Birmingham – Arsenal

Well, Brum HAD a great season. They’re 9th, probably will stay there and surely won’t repeat this success in foreseen future. They’re also tired after mid-week defeat (and all season as well), defense line is in late football ages and will have to chase Arsenal’s fast runners. The fact in their favor is St Andrew's is not a happy place for top sides. They took a point vs. Spurs, Everton, Chelsea and Man Utd. McLeish will also be dieing to do a favor to his mentor Sir Alex. And to be honest, they won’t have anything against to ruin Arsenal’s dream just for pleasure.

On the other hand, Wenger said this game is more important than that next week vs. Barcelona and he surely thinks like that! Management, fans, players and even he are satiated with his repeating stories about grand European success. Choice is win the title or go! And if he doesn’t do it this year, will hardly have such chance in the forthcoming. But, French is scratching the head as Vermaelen got the red card vs. West Ham and he has no other choice but to put Silvestre and Campbell as center backs. Both are everything but safe defenders in my opinion and with confused looking Almunia and Cameron Jerome in a sensational shape I smell a trouble and give up from any thought about backing them with some high handicap.

Brum have nothing to play for, but will try to give some importance to themselves in a title race. They won’t look tired. On the other hand, this is the highest importance for the Gunners. They definitely have potential to score few. Over 2.5 for me. bet365 offer 1.88, Pinnacle 1.83.

EPL initial thoughts

At the first glance,I can’t see any losing points for top three. All have more than decent records against Villa,Birmingham and Bolton.Arsenal and Chelsea should go in over,as well.

A question for million dollars is does Zola remind you on Shearer (or Southgate)?Still can not imagine West Ham in Championship, but wouldn’t dare even to think about backing them again.Especially at that price.

Man City 0 - 2 Everton

Everton dented Manchester City's hopes of a Champions League place with a fully deserved win at Eastlands.
Tim Cahill scored a trademark header after a neat build-up between Mikel Arteta and Leighton Baines, who provided the cross.
City raised the tempo in the second half but after finding no way through, Arteta slotted home a fine second after a superb run from Jack Rodwell.
In the final stages both managers were sent to the stands as tempers frayed.
City boss Roberto Mancini raced to retrieve the ball, clattering into his opposite number David Moyes, sparking a melee on the sidelines and prompting referee Peter Walton to dismiss them both.
And after delivering Mancini his first defeat as City boss back in January, Moyes once more masterminded a fine victory for his side.
The Toffees, who have won their last two visits to the City of Manchester Stadium without conceding a goal, were again good for their win here and in the process ended City's unbeaten record at home this season.

WBA - Coventry 1-0

1-0 S. Reid  22.min

Manchester City - Everton

City are in a good shape, they’re two points far from desired 4th position (and have a game in hand). They’re without a defeat in last eight competitive games (five draws though) and didn’t score just once in those (vs. Liverpool, 0-0). Their confidence were boosted first after shocking 4-2 win at Stamford, then in last round at Craven Cottage vs. Fulham (2-1). Their main problem through the season is away shape and last round win should be crucial for them. Also, big rewards from club’s board for CL spot shouldn’t be overlooked, regarding their motivation. We’re approaching to the final part of the season and I expect their strong finish. Mancini will have some injury problems in back line. Joleon Lescott is out for four weeks, while Wayne Bridge remains sidelined (Javier Garrido will continue at left-back). Adebayor is suspended.

As tonight’s hosts, Toffees are also in up trend. As their big injury crisis started to fade, their results became better. Lately they’re scoring plenty, but also have big problems to keep the clean sheet as they conceded in last nine competitive games. With return of Arteta they improved attacking potential (scored 9 in last 3 Premier games). Also Pienaar plays in a life form in my opinion and I expect his another very good display (should run the riot against Garrido at the right flank). They have problems when play on the road, but good thing for Moyes they actually have no pressure. Maybe can reach Europe, but won’t be a tragedy if stay 8th. Fellaini and Senderos are injured and it makes their defending potential more vulnerable than usual. Victor Anichebe is having a late fitness test and his place probably will take Saha from the start. Which is actually good.

Both teams possess high level of self-confidence currently. And both teams have great attacking potential. City will miss two key defenders and I see a space for Everton. On the other hand Tevez plays in a life shape, Bellamy and young Johnson will produce real trouble for the visitors. I expect goals on both sides. Over 2.5.

West Ham 1-3 Wolverhampton

Wolves made a huge leap towards Premier League safety with a crushing victory over fellow strugglers West Ham.
The visitors went close when Kevin Foley hit the bar and took the lead when a scuffed James Tomkins pass-back fell to Kevin Doyle who fired home.
David Jones set up Ronald Zubar to fire in and then passed to Matthew Jarvis who blasted in for a fine third.
Scott Parker hit a post for West Ham in the first half, leaving Guillermo Franco to chip in a late consolation.
Despite a spirited fightback in the closing stages, the Hammers overall lacked ideas and confidence and boss Gianfranco Zola will be very concerned as he prepares for the final seven games currently three points away from the drop zone.
After a weekend dominated by talk of an invigorated title race, Tuesday night saw the teams at the other end of the Premier League taking centre stage.
West Ham, in 17th spot, were facing the team one place above them with Zola calling the clash "a massive six pointer" as he desperately sought to avoid a fifth successive league defeat.
Mick McCarthy's pre-match motivational speech to his players are likely to have pointed towards their opponents recalling star players after a rested few days with Zola having 'targeted' Wolves.
The Italian boss did indeed bring back fit-again skipper Parker, along with two strikers who did not start in the 2-0 loss at Arsenal, Carlton Cole and Benni McCarthy, but it was the visitors who ripped open a very nervous defence inside seven minutes.

www.bbc.co.uk

West Ham - Wolverhampton

Six pointer game. Despite the decent team quality, Hammers are first above the line and have three points more. Zola has got an ultimatum from the board to get 4 points in next two games (Stoke next) to safe his job. Some rumors say he’s gone anyway (Hughes as successor), but I’ll wouldn’t consider it seriously. He has good rating in the dressing room and I believe players will give everything to keep his boss. West Ham have four consecutive defeats. Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd on the road were expected epilogues, while only failure came at home vs Bolton (1-2). They conceded two fast goals after two big errors by defensive line, dominated rest of the game, but lost at the end. At the same time, Bolton are the only side from the bottom crew that West Ham didn’t win. Another important thing is Zola rested his keys, Cole and Diamanti vs. Chelsea, Cole came on in the 2nd half vs. Arsenal and skipper Parker will play tonight after a break. No other injury concerns for Zola. West Ham are unbeaten at home in their last six matches against Wolves (4 wins, 2 draws ).

Oppositely from West Ham, Wolves play over their real capabilities. Considering their team quality, (in my opinion) they should relegate. They usually score after set pieces, while lack of creativity and fighting spirit are main characteristics of their play. They’re, however, in a good shape. Four points from last two games (both away), win vs. Burnley 2-1 and a draw vs. Villa 2-2 in a small derby. They’ve increased their chances to keep the status, will have less pressure than Hammers tonight, but I think they also see their chance for all 3 points. Boss Mick McCarthy has no injury worries and is expected to name an unchanged side for the seventh successive match. Problem could be (beside less quality) a possible fatigue. Wolves' only win in their last 15 visits to Upton Park was in March 1978.

West Ham will be fully motivated. They’ll be under a pressure, but I think they used to cope with it (Birmingham 2-0 at home, same circumstances). Hammers are also more rested, possess more quality and play at home. They don’t belong down there. Home win for me.

Leeds United 0 - 2 Millwall

In-form Millwall blew the race for second place and automatic promotion in League One wide open with a stunning win over Leeds at Elland Road.
Steve Morison made it six goals in four games on 11 minutes when he fired in at the far post after fine build-up play.
The home side were on the back foot in the early stages as the rampant Lions pushed forward looking for a second.
Leeds settled and had chances either side of half-time but substitute Shaun Batt wrapped up the win on 80 minutes.
Batt latched on to a throw in and cut inside from close to the corner flag, beating two men before firing a low shot that somehow squeezed past Leeds keeper Casper Ankergren at his near post.
Leeds were without their 21-goal top scorer Jermaine Beckford who missed out with a hamstring injury and they needed to be at their very best to cope with a Lions side who have now won 10 of their last 12 league games.
Millwall were 21 points adrift of Leeds in January but are now three points behind in the race for second place, with both Charlton and Swindon only one point behind the Lions.
The Yorkshire club have been in the top two since August but four wins from their 13 league games in 2010 means the prospects of being dragged into the play-offs, where they lost last year to Millwall, is now very real.
Batt's goal was a blow for Leeds who had created opportunities as they recovered from an uncharacteristically shaky start.
Leeds's slow start got worse when defender Patrick Kisnorbo exited on a stretcher after collapsing in agony in the build-up to the opening goal.
The Australian defender suffered a suspected Achilles injury and is likely to face a long period on the sidelines.

www.bbc.co.uk

Leeds United – Millwall

Bad blood between these two clubs made from their rivalry a real derby. Their games are followed with incidents, usually outside but sometimes even on the pitch. Previous season, Millwall made a first class surprise and knocked Leeds (hard favorite then) from a play-off. All those facts make from their games wars, when team quality stays in the shadow and win a team with bigger heart.

Leeds frozen in “war of the roses” Utd at Trafford and then started their downtrend. Lost first position and even put in doubt automatic promotion. Just two home wins in eight competitive games from then and Charlton have sneaked up to 4 points margin (Leeds have a game in hand). In last round they lost away to Saints 0-1, another failure would bring the problems and pressure. Defender Ben Parker is returning after injury, striker Tresor Kandol and winger Max Gradel as well.

Millwall are in a great run of results. They’ve lost just one game in 2010. of 14 competitive games (away to Wycombe, 0-1). That game and FA Cup encounter vs. Derby on the road (0-0) were the only two where Millwall didn’t score. They hold 5th place and it seems we’ll watch them again in play-off. Club legend, striker Neil Harris, is doubtful.

I didn’t intend to get involved in this game, but odds on home win have been rising whole day and now are around even. I think it worth a shot. Home win.
