Season of great expectations started as a nightmare for City. First were trashed at home soil by Millwall (0-3), then maybe even bigger shock was when Steve Coppell left the club. Ex care-taker (now should be permanent boss), Billy Sharp, took the charge and seems managed to stabilize the club. They were good on the road vs.
.

If home side wants to carry high ambitions (in my opinion City could be fighting for a play-off), they simply have to win games like Barnsley at home.

Preston should win tonight. In fact considering everything that I've read, there's not a single reason not to be.Except...Well,except my instict. And I rate it as,for example, missings of best scorer and goalie. It's obvious home win,but something simply doesn't fit.I haven't posted this earlier,'cause don't want to ruin someone's work (another top post neo!).Follow your own insticts.
My initial thoughts were to back Sheff.Utd..Hornets are awfull and that's it about them.Blades,in my opinion will finish in play-off.Injuries are past, but they have two very important missings for tonight.Key defenders,Kilgallon and Wallker. While Kilgallon's departure is also good thing for the club(again in my opinion),unexpected yesterday's departure of second one is a blow.Second thing, odds on Utd. have been raising fast.I doubt bookies know anything that I don't,but in combination with first reason it's enough to stay beside.
Well, not picks but thoughts.Maybe it could be useful for someone.

Manchester City overcame a spirited Middlesbrough side to maintain Roberto Mancini's unblemished record and book a place in the FA Cup fourth round.
Benjani broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time when he swept home an incisive pass from Martin Petrov.
Boro impressed with their work-rate and commitment, but struggled to create.
Their attacking play improved after the break, however, with Rhys Williams heading over their best chance as City squandered several opportunities.
The win maintains City's flawless start under new Mancini, who has now guided his side to three wins in three games, with six goals scored and none conceded.
But while Mancini might have racked up 10 Coppa Italia wins as a player and manager, his team selection will have left some onlookers questioning his determination to build on that notable cup record in England.
Adopting a conservative approach, the Italian made five changes to the City line-up, leaving Benjani to plough a lone furrow up front and handing young defender Dedryck Boyata a first-team debut.
Even with City in fine form since he replaced Mark Hughes, it was a risky call by Mancini and on another day it might have backfired.
Boro, labouring 26 places below City on the league ladder, had won just twice in 10 games since Gordon Strachan's late-October arrival on Teesside.

Scunthorpe Utd. - Barnsley
Home side has just a single win in last eleven games. Big problem will be missing their key striker and best goal scorer Gary Hooper. Midfielder Michael O'Connor is in doubt as is first goalie Joe Murphy. Midfielders Andrew Wright and Grant McCann are suspended. The Iron will have a best friend in bad pitch.
Visitors are in run of eight games without a defeat. No injury worries, best eleven should start the game.
Can not imagine home win here. Odd around 1.85 for dnb2 looks like a gift.
And one gamble.
Blackpool - Ipswich Town, Away win.

That's it. See you soon.

Ten-man Newcastle extended their lead at the top of the Championship after a tough win over a spirited Watford team.
Newcastle went ahead in the 20th minute when Craig Cathcart's weak backpass allowed Marlon Harewood to set up Peter Lovenkrands for a simple opener.
But the hosts lost Kevin Nolan when he was shown his second yellow card for a foul in the 49th minute.
But as Watford pushed forward, Fabrice Pancrate sealed the win with a stunning left-footed strike in the 83rd minute.
Although not one of their most convincing performances of the season, Chris Hughton's side managed to earn their sixth successive victory of the campaign.
Newcastle manager Chris Hughton:
"There will be bad times to come, I am sure, but we have shown a lot of resilience and that is the mark of any side which is doing well, that resilience resulting in clean sheets.
"I am absolutely delighted with that.
"What we do know is we are going to have good days and bad days, and what we have so far shown is a resilience to cope with the bad days and, at times, get something from them.
"There are times when you can't speak highly enough of the group of lads you have, and that applies today.
Watford boss Malky Mackay:
"Being clinical is maybe the difference.
"Their guy gets a chance with a couple of minutes to go and puts the ball in the top corner.
"But that's where we are at and that's the group we have got."

Darius Henderson scored two penalties to earn Sheffield United a draw at south Yorkshire rivals Barnsley and end a run of four straight defeats.
The Blades saw keeper Ian Bennett and defender Matt Kilgallon join their long injury list before Anderson de Silva's thunderbolt put Barnsley ahead.
Henderson levelled after Luke Steele was adjudged to have fouled Ched Evans.
Daniel Bogdanovic headed Barnsley back in front, but Henderson struck again when Adam Hammill tripped Kyle Walker.
Barnsley manager Mark Robins:
"To only draw a game like that after we've played so well is difficult to take.
"We played really well. We passed the ball well and controlled the game for large parts.
"It was a good game, a decent derby game. They've had a couple of chances, they've hit the woodwork, but they've been given the two penalties."
Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell:
"I'm proud of the lads, but another game and two more injuries.
"You can see we are chasing round having put square pegs in round holes.
"My biggest praise is for Derek Geary who's been out for 18 months, knee rebuilt and I've had to put him in."
