Palace have been shipping goals for fun, recently. They conceded nine goals in three league games, plus another four at Tuesday against Preston in Cup (all four defeats), with Julian Speroni in quite a bad form. They looked for some instant solution, signed Darcy Blake, Welsh international from Cardiff and he’ll start the game.

The Owls are pretty opposite, have a draw and two wins in league with a total of 14 goals in those! They’re in a great mood and must be liking the prospect of three points today.

Going for goals, rather than away win.

Leicester City - Blackpool

The Foxes like to think they have chances for promotion. But, started with a home win against poor old Posh, then lost three on the trot - including embarrassing 2-4 at home vs. Burton in Cup. Nigel Pearson has been rotating a lot, but it’s pretty obvious their defence is the worst line in the team. They look better at home however, in their last 13 games at King Power Stadium ten times they scored two or more goals.

On the other hand, Blackpool finished previous three seasons in top-six, this one started with all three wins and ten goals scored in those! Even more, they’ve signed two strikers Eccleston (Liverpool) and Delfouneso (Aston Villa).

FA Cup betting, Norwich - Leicester

Lambert stated that Premier League status is their prime objective, but the fact is they’re 8^th with eleven points above the line and next league game is for eight days. Leicester are safe from relegation in Championship and nine points far from play-off. It looks like both sides could have a push for Cup competition. Both sides also have enough fire power and they probably wouldn’t like to play a repeat game. I expect an open match and go for goals.

Championship betting, Barnsley - Leicester

Cannot help myself, but have to take Leicester. Hate SGE and his football philosophy, but with such a big spending their squad simply jump-out from the rest of the league (along with West Ham). Barnsley lost both at home, made two good results on the road. Well, I have nothing too much to say about them. Lovre, Ricardo Vaz Te, strikers Davies and Noble-Lazarus, then defender Addison are all out. For Leicester, David Nugent is injured and Beckford will have his debut. Leicester have won nine of the last ten league games against Barnsley with keeping clean sheets in eight of them.

It hurts the most when I lose my money betting on Leicester or Man City, but as I said cannot help myself. Taking -0.25 in a try to keep my nerves.

Championship betting, Coventry-Leicester 13:30h cet

Sven-Goran Eriksson has brought not less than 10 new players in the club. With those that stayed, the Foxes are public favourites (reasonable in my opinion) for a direct promotion (alongside West Ham). The question is how fast they all can gel up and start producing some results.

On the other hand, I doubt Coventry have a quality to do something in the league. Mid-table is expected and I cannot even exclude a possibility they will be struggling. But the fact is they always have a good start of the campaign and Ricoh Arena is always tough place to go.

I like the look of goals here. Think some books overreacted on Freddy Eastwood’s absence (injury) and 2.13 worth of a shot.

Leicester - Norwich

Leicester did lose at North London against QPR, but actually were the better side and missed two sitters before conceded a late loser. They’re now big five points far from a play-off zone and will be certainly looking for all three points. Interesting fact is they haven’t failed to score at Walkers since SG Eriksson took the charge, 13 games and total of 30 goals! No injury worries, same squad is available.

Norwich have noticed only a draw against poor Preston side, mainly because their relaxed attitude (in previous at home, also drew against another poor side Doncaster). They’re in much better position than the hosts, but missed the opportunity to occupy second spot. They also have an interesting fact and it is Norwich have never made two consecutive defeats under Paul Lambert (88 games)! If we consider 1-1 against Preston as a defeat (I think it’s fair), their good performance is in front. Also, only QPR took more points on the road, they have scored in 10 of last 11 away games (in 31 of 35, both at home and away).Defender Whitbread is doubt, Edwards could make a first start and replace him.

Leicester are probably closer to win, but I think goals would be a better call. First game on Carrow Road ended 4-3, this one also smells on high scoring affair. Both to score should be the second option.

QPR - Leicester (preview)

QPR are topping the table and it seems with Neil Warnock as a manager they got what they needed for promotion. Defence line looks much better than in previous seasons and it is the best in second tier with just 20 goals conceded. They also have noticed just one home defeat of 17 games (11 wins) and they’re in the run of 10 games without a loss. Tommy Smith should start from the bench, but Taarabt and Routledge should be fit (considering odds free fall).

Since SG Eriksson took the charge, Leicester started to look much better and they became with climbing on the table. They’re 7th with just two points far from a play-off zone. However, their away shape doesn’t look so impressive. They’ve lost 10 of 17 games on the road and all five against current top 5 in Championship. Chelsea’s on-loan defender, Patrick van Aanholt, is out.

QPR are better squad, play at home and cope much better with the pressure of big games. In my opinion they should be favorites. 2-0 correct score.

Derby - Leicester, 17:20cet

These are two teams in the opposite shapes. Derby have dropped from 4th in November to 17th place, winning just once of last eleven games (losing eight of them). Adding on that a shocking defeat at Crawley in FA Cup, selling Kris Commons to Celtic and the fact they’re without a win at home in five games, their confidence cannot be too high. It seems Nigel Clough will face the axe very soon.

I’m far from being a fan of SGE but since he became a manager at Walkers, Leicester moved up from 15th position to 8th and are in a play-off race. They’re undefeated in last six games (five wins) and have three victories in a row (scoring nine in those). They got a decent quality signing Yakubu and Soll Bamba (scored three goals as defender since the arrival).

The Foxes are not scoring on the road that much as at home, but I think they’ll be anyway too much for uninspired Rams and will continue a great run. 0-2 correct score.

Leicester and Everton - epilogue

Only losers complain about the bad luck and blame “outside factors” for their own failures. The thing is I cannot see who and with what tricks someone could make a profit last night in English games. Which is a very good sign my judging became terrible wrong. I’m facing so big crisis first time in my life and currently I’m only wasting my and money of the others. Only way out which I see is (to force myself) to make a break from betting. One weekend at least. It will be the first one in last 10 (or so) years I won’t make a single bet.

Leicester – Sheff Utd

I’m definitely not a keen of Sven-Goran Eriksson admirer, but couldn’t deny he made a very good impact at Leicester. Still a big reputation, I guess. However since his arrival, City noticed one defeat (not unexpected one, away at Swansea 0-2), one draw and three consecutive wins (I don’t count Cup defeat with mixed squad). Leicester have a potential for play-off (top side of the table surely), Sousa’s departure was a good thing and I expect they’ll continue with the climbing on the table. Skipper, Matt Oakley, should be fit after a knee injury. Same applies for defender Miguel Vitor.

Well, Blades even before the start gave up from play-off ambitions. But their performances and latest results threat to push them into relegation battle, as United have just one point more from bottom placed Palace. They have three defeats in a row and just one win from last 8 league games (Hull away, 1-0)! Some excuses could be addressed on the injury list that contains six players, captain (and key defender) Chris Morgan, Nick Montgomery, Ryan France, Stephen Jordan, Lee Williamson and in my opinion the most important - striker Darius Henderson. But despite that, Gary Speed doesn’t seem as a good choice for a gaffer, their performances are usually terrible and I don’t see them higher than a bottom side of the table at the end.  

Leicester are a strong favorite here. Only thing that worries me is Eriksson’s defensive style that applied in all his clubs and even in English national team. On the other hand United are struggling to score lately and Walkers surely is not a good place for a shooting practice. I expect a home win with a clean sheet. 2-0.

Van der Sar and statistic update

At the same minute Van der Sar decided to make a joke and Robert Koren made a first attempt on goal for Hull (from 30 yards). Unfortunately both situations ended with goals and something that should have been entertaining Saturday and money collecting turned into a serious disaster. Only light in the dark was Wednesday that played a game just as I expected and made a job done. I don't celebrate too much when win and don't moan when lose, but disturbing thing is entire list of results looks really shocking and it lasts for the couple weeks. However, better days are coming. Leicester - Hull

The Foxes occupy shameful 22nd place (third from the bottom) and after a run of embarrassing results, Paolo Sousa got fired. The thing is, the team is almost the same from previous season (finished 5^th and lost after play-off penalties against Cardiff), but team was paying prices to Sousa’s attempts to implement his defensive philosophy of football that was working perfectly at his time at Swansea. Also, some of his management decisions didn’t help, like to leave top goal scorer and club’s mascot, Matty Fryatt, on the bench. It’s not a new boss syndrome, in the first game without Sousa players showed a new face and played like without the weight on the shoulders (Scunthorpe at home 3-1). I’m not a keen of Sven-Goran Eriksson’s admirer, but his arriving just confirms club’s ambition that his owner is repeating these days – Premier League. Erikson has already signed two very good players, extra talented Kyle Naughton from Spurs (should even start the game) and Villa’s defender Curtis Davies. Striker Dany N`Guessan is only missing.

Hull are facing a rough times in the second tier. And while at home things don’t look so bad (haven’t conceded a goal in all five games, scored just two tough), their record on the road again looks shameful. In previous season in Premier they finished without a win (6 draws and 12 scored goals in 19 games) and not too much have been changed. One win (very lucky one at Norwich) and four defeats with goal difference 3-13! I predicted at the start that lot will depend from Jimmy Bullard (key of their key players). He has an injury and will face a late fitness test for today’s game, but even when he was fit didn’t look too much interested for the game. Their ambition is return to Premiership, but that doesn’t sound likely for the near future.

Leicester will start climbing on the table (in fact, started already), they possess more than decent amount of quality and will finish somewhere in top eight – I’d say. Sousa’s era has been finished and players are eager to show their full potential. Opponent is very good for that purpose. Home win.

Tuesday's results and statistic update

Good night after all. I was so annoyed when Colchester turned the game from 0-1 to 2-1 and then conceded for a draw. Then I paid attention on the other results... Complete chaos! I wasn't even thinking about Cardiff and QPR, but plenty of shocking results. Leeds, Nott Forest, Bristol Rovers, Hudders, Rotheram, Peterborough... Last 3 weeks in England are real mine field. But... Most important thing. My September is green, finally!!! Yes!

Norwich – Leicester

Despite the defeat in previous round (Hull at home, 0-2), Norwich have been noticing an encouraging start of the season. Sixth spot and play-off zone are something that guarantee they’ll be fully motivated (as long as Premiership dream lasts). Against Hull they were much better rival, but in last 10 minutes conceded twice and noticed very unlucky defeat. My assumption is they’ll be very eager to bounce back tonight. Midfielder Surman and defender Nelson are still out, while defenders Whitbread and Smith have returned to the full training.

Leicester’s current shape is at least embarrassing. Instead play-off spot, they’re keeping the bottom of the table with just 5 points of 8 games. On the road just a single point and goal difference 4-13, after they suffered real humiliation at Portsmouth (1-6). Sousa’s manager position isn’t stabile at all. Seems he couldn’t imply the system with tight defense that was successfully bringing results in Swansea. Oppositely, Leicester’s back line looks vulnerable, conceding large amounts lately. Chairman Mandaric has said he gives his full support to Sousa.  Usually, such statements mean opposite. Players possess enough quality for the top half of the table and certainly don’t enjoy when Portsmouth make a laugh of them. I’m sure Sousa’s departure is very close, maybe even tonight. Defender Miguel Vitor is suspended after red card.

 

Leicester won’t be relegated, that’s sure, but better results will come when they make a cut. Currently they look like a sinking boat. Hosts believe their Saturday’s defeat was a robbery, now are preparing a strong response.

Leicester – Watford

Leicester overcame the crisis of results (4 consecutive defeats) and with two wins in a row (QPR home 4-0 and Peterborough away 2-1), they’re one step from a play-off spot. Margin between them and 7th Blackpool is 4 points and theoretically they could seal the play-off even today. But, after Watford, Leicester will play 2 very difficult games, Preston-away and in last round Boro at home. So, win today is crucial. Different epilogue would bring a trouble. Midfielder Lloyd Dyer is returning after a knock vs. Posh. No other worries for boss Pearson. 

Watford are fighting to avoid relegation. They’re 19th, three points far from a line, but played a game less than the opponents. They’re undefeated in last 3 occasions, beating in last round a direct opponent from the bottom – Argyle. But, their shape on the road looks sensationally bad. In last 13 games, 10 defeats and 3 draws, all without a clean sheet and just on 2 of them didn’t concede 2 or more goals! Defender Harley and midfielder Lansbury served their suspensions and return to the squad. 

For Leicester, whole season is a stake and no room for an easy approach. I expect a fighting game from them and a win with at least two goals margin. Personally, expected 1.50-1.55 for a home win and think –0.75 ah at these odds is very good bet. StanJames offer 2.00, bet365 1.85.
