Queens Park have noticed just one win out of last eight matches in the league and all of sudden, they dropped under the relegation line. They are also without a clean sheet in 21 Premier League games.

Arsenal have made seven league wins in a row and they surprisingly appeared at the third place. No pressure as the title is lost long time ago, but very good reason to play.

QPR will put some serious fight on their smaller pitch and I cannot completely exclude the possibility of a surprise. I will back goals, rather than Arsenal.

Portsmouth - Burnley, Portsmouth

Pompey haven’t given up after points deduction and with three points today, they could be above the line. They took seven out of possible nine points from last three at home, defeating Hull and Birmingham.

Burnley are safe from relegation and too far from play-off. They made four defeats and a draw out of last five on the road, today will be probably without top striker Jay Rodriguez. They’ve lost six out of last eight competitive matches against Pompey (both home and away).

Pompey are in a very good momentum, while Burnley are probably far from standards of Hull and Brum who already lost at Fratton Park. Some limitation in case of a draw.

Premier League betting, Blackburn - QPR 11th Feb

Not so good situation in Blackburn at all. Kean is under the fans protest and club not just they didn’t bring new players, but sold Ryan Nelsen to Spurs. Samba’s behaviour is critical and he’s out for this game (at least), while Gael Givet starts a three-match ban. That’s three important defenders and Rovers will be certainly struggling in the back line. Good thing is Yakubu is back.

Thankfully to better financial situation, QPR brought some experience and now look like a serious squad. I’m pretty sure they’ll stay. After an act of madness Cisse will miss out, as well as Helguson and DJ Campbell. But no worries in front, Zamora will take care of it with Taarabt as support. Only miss will be Luke Young at right-back.

Nine of 12 games at Ewood this season, finished with three or more goals (five out of last six). Same produced three of Hughes’ four games in QPR. Think Blackburn can’t keep it tight and both sides must fancy their chances. Goals, rather than QPR.

Crystal Palace - Nottingham Forest

Palace will stay in Championship. They secured the status mainly with great home run of results with only one defeat out of last 15 games at Selhurst Park. Interesting fact is all but one of those 14 were draws, or wins by one goal.

Forest need a point to be mathematically in play-off, but even without it it’s hard to believe Leeds will be able to jeopardize their spot. Same is with their chances to leapfrog Reading.

I expect a relaxed game without any pressure. Palace wouldn’t like to lose in the last home game, Forest won’t push for a win and will just try to avoid defeat keeping the momentum for play-off. My gamble of a day is draw.

Championship - last round 7 May

Now it becomes really ridiculous. FA has delayed its verdict to Monday as the earliest date. This practically means QPR, Cardiff, Swans and even Leeds won’t even know for what they’re playing.

I think Warnock will ask lads for “one more time”, to finish it with the style and pray for the best. Leeds have, not only to win, but to hope Nott Forest will lose at C.Palace and eventually to overcome -6 goal difference! Hm... QPR still could be a very good bet (2.20 at William Hill and 188bet). As well as Cardiff and Swansea. Cardiff will certainly try to regain some confidence after Monday’s embarrassment. 2.90 in some form of handicap looks decent (let’s say 0.0 @ 2.12 188bet). Brendan Rodgers says Swansea are normally preparing for play-off. Against bottom eight clubs, they have six wins of seven games (this will be 8th). Sheff Utd made a sensational win at Reading, but then in a decisive game missed to defeat Barnsley at home! How painful it could be?! I guess no one there will be in the mood for football tomorrow. Which again, makes -1ah @ 1.93 Pinnacle probably a very good call.

Cardiff - QPR

Cardiff made an April run of four games without a win and just when I thought they’re about to blow it again, they noticed four wins in a row (12-2 goal diff. in those). However, they dropped on 3rd place after Norwich’s win at Ipswich. Norwich also have not so bad schedule and maybe could take all points in last three games. So, this is crucial game for the Blue Birds. Top scorer, Jay Bothroyd, is fully fit, goalie Heaton could also start the game.

Queens Park are topping the table with big eight points more than Cardiff and Neil Warnock states they don’t feel any pressure. The true is they looked like that in a home draw vs. Derby, but they actually have three more tough games after Wales. At Monday they’ll host play-off contenders Hull, then go to “you’ll never know what to expect from us” Watford and host Leeds in potential last round cracker! They also have problem outside the field, since the transfer of Alejandro Faurlin is under FA investigation and eventually could result in points deduction (Warnock says no way)! Rangers have far best defence in 2nd tier and have kept clean sheet in four of last five games (in fifth Scunny scored four).

I give some advantage to home side, expect a tough game and their win by one. 1-0 correct score.

Burnley - Millwall

Burnley under Eddie Howe became the serious play-off candidates, they are 3 points far but have two games in a hand. Since he took the charge, the Clarets have noticed six wins, two draws and only one defeat out of nine league games, have five wins out of last six and three in a row. Strikers Thompson and Paterson are out.

Millwall made a great win over QPR in the midweek, but their shape away from the Den is far from being impressive. They’ve noticed five defeats and a draw in last six games on the road and are winless since the middle of November (‘Boro 1-0). Midfielder Rowlands is back to the squad, but important defender Purse is suspended.

Home side has the best form in Championship, away side the worst on the road. Odd above even is very good price and I have no dilemma. Home win.

Leicester - Norwich

Leicester did lose at North London against QPR, but actually were the better side and missed two sitters before conceded a late loser. They’re now big five points far from a play-off zone and will be certainly looking for all three points. Interesting fact is they haven’t failed to score at Walkers since SG Eriksson took the charge, 13 games and total of 30 goals! No injury worries, same squad is available.

Norwich have noticed only a draw against poor Preston side, mainly because their relaxed attitude (in previous at home, also drew against another poor side Doncaster). They’re in much better position than the hosts, but missed the opportunity to occupy second spot. They also have an interesting fact and it is Norwich have never made two consecutive defeats under Paul Lambert (88 games)! If we consider 1-1 against Preston as a defeat (I think it’s fair), their good performance is in front. Also, only QPR took more points on the road, they have scored in 10 of last 11 away games (in 31 of 35, both at home and away).Defender Whitbread is doubt, Edwards could make a first start and replace him.

Leicester are probably closer to win, but I think goals would be a better call. First game on Carrow Road ended 4-3, this one also smells on high scoring affair. Both to score should be the second option.

QPR - Leicester (preview)

QPR are topping the table and it seems with Neil Warnock as a manager they got what they needed for promotion. Defence line looks much better than in previous seasons and it is the best in second tier with just 20 goals conceded. They also have noticed just one home defeat of 17 games (11 wins) and they’re in the run of 10 games without a loss. Tommy Smith should start from the bench, but Taarabt and Routledge should be fit (considering odds free fall).

Since SG Eriksson took the charge, Leicester started to look much better and they became with climbing on the table. They’re 7th with just two points far from a play-off zone. However, their away shape doesn’t look so impressive. They’ve lost 10 of 17 games on the road and all five against current top 5 in Championship. Chelsea’s on-loan defender, Patrick van Aanholt, is out.

QPR are better squad, play at home and cope much better with the pressure of big games. In my opinion they should be favorites. 2-0 correct score.

Leeds - QPR

Interesting odds for goals. Bookies based them on QPR, as Rangers conceded only 12 goals in past 20 games (needless to say the lowest number in division), while on the road allowed only five (lowest again). On the other hand, they haven’t kept a clean sheet in last three encounters and in London derby vs. Watford conceded three times (first loss this season).

Situation with Leeds is completely opposite. Championship games involving Leeds have produced 72 goals (more than any other club). They also have the worst home record, conceded shocking 20 goals in 10 games at Elland Road. Neil Warnock will surely try to use it. Home boss, Grayson, insists on attacking style (interesting fact is they hit the woodwork 15 times!) that should erase defensive errors. They never surrender and won amazing 14 points from matches in which they were behind.

I think this could be the first away defeat for QPR. On the other hand under soil heating at Elland is working perfectly and I can’t see any obstacle why we shouldn’t watch an open game. Becchio against Taarabt. This will be great. 2-1 correct score.

Tuesday's results and statistic update

Good night after all. I was so annoyed when Colchester turned the game from 0-1 to 2-1 and then conceded for a draw. Then I paid attention on the other results... Complete chaos! I wasn't even thinking about Cardiff and QPR, but plenty of shocking results. Leeds, Nott Forest, Bristol Rovers, Hudders, Rotheram, Peterborough... Last 3 weeks in England are real mine field. But... Most important thing. My September is green, finally!!! Yes!

Peterborough United - Coventry City

Peterborough are stuck for the bottom with big ten points less than the first club above the relegation line. They have two wins in last 11 league games, but both came in last two home encounters (QPR 1-0 and Ipswich 3-1). With 13 rounds left, it seems Posh are safe for dropping down to the third tier. They simply lack in quality and have noticed such number of points only thankfully to fanatic spirit and very bad home pitch (will be rain and again soiled surface). Club sent on loan to Nott.Forest best player, midfielder George Boyd and made real unrest in the dressing room. They’ll be without defender Ryan Bennett, midfielder Josh Simpson, while striker Reid and defender Geohaghon will have late fitness tests. New on-loan signing from Wolves, Mark Little should make his debut. All 5 of Posh's league wins this season have been at home, but none of them have been against sides currently in the top half of the table.

 

Coventry are in more than decent run of results with four wins (including Forest and Palace on the road) and a defeat (Newcastle, 1-4 on the road) in last five games. Defeat vs. Toons at the same time was the only one in last eight games. Boss Coleman said before last game (Scunny, 2-1 at home) it was the decisive moment in the season. Win would launch them into play-off contenders (3 points far, now), otherwise would be judged for middle-table fate. Won caused the team morale is higher than ever, fans support as well (3000 fans are expected today). Coventry are without defender Richard Wood and midfielder David Bell, while defender Leon Barnett is suspended. Midfielder Sammy Clingan will need to be assessed.

 

To stay in Championship, Peterborough  should make an incredible run of results. It’s impossible and they know it. One early conceded goal would mean surrender. City are flying high, no pressure, great manager, decent squad and current run of results make them the favorites today. Draw no bet on away side.

Sheff Utd 2 - 0 Bristol City

Sheffield United shrugged off a slow start to maintain their push for the Championship play-offs at Bristol City's expense.
Chris Iwelumo showed some promising early touches on his City debut, but United gradually grew in authority. 
City keeper Dean Gerken pulled off some excellent saves, but was powerless to stop Henri Camara's vicious second-half effort from nestling in the top corner. 
Darius Henderson nodded in Jamie Ward's cross on the hour to seal the points. 
The win, United's first in five games, leaves the Blades a point adrift of sixth-placed Leicester City, who have played two games fewer. 
City, meanwhile, are without a victory since mid-January and have now conceded 13 goals in their last six games.
Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell:
"I thought everyone played really, really well. 
"We used the ball intelligently and moved well off it. When you see us go out and look like that then it makes you realise our biggest problem this season is going to be keeping everybody fit. 
"If we can do that then we've got every chance.

"We didn't do enough to give ourselves a chance to win the game and the the first goal killed us.

Coventry 1 - 0 QPR

Gary Deegan's early strike was enough to stretch Coventry's unbeaten run to five matches, while QPR are now nine games without a win in any competition. 
Deegan struck his first goal for the club early on, a shot into the bottom corner that left Rangers goalkeeper Carl Ikeme rooted to the spot. 
QPR pressed either side of half time, with Lee Cook forcing Keiren Westwood to save from a free-kick. 
Cook also flashed a shot across the goal, but the visitors could not level.

Coventry - QPR

Interesting things are happening in Coventry these days. They lost the key striker Leon Best (sold to Newcastle), but their results and performance are improving. I see two reasons. First, Chris Coleman is definitely a manager for Premier, not second tier. Second, selling Best was also a good move for the club. Coventry hadn’t score more with him in the squad just because lack of assistance passes in front. Antagonism between him and the other players, I’m not sure. But sure is Eastwood (especially) and Clinton Morrison (was in Best’s shadow) are great attacking force. In previous round, they defeated promotion chasers Nott.Forest (with a slight touch of luck, though), and their self confidence is additionally raised. Midfielder Aron Gunnarsson and center-back James McPake are facing a late fitness tests. New on loan signing, striker Freddie Sears, will take some part in this game. Coventry won four of last five home games in league and are unbeaten in five matches against QPR.

Situation in QPR could be described as at least chaotic. Briatore faced a hors of boos and left the stadium at the half time (Ipswich 1-2), chairman Gianni Paladini has offered his resignation, while team is in a freefall! They have four defeats in a row (two came from Scunthorpe and Peterborough), scored just one goal and they’re just two points far from relegation zone. New caretaker, Mick Harford (and his assistant Tony Coton), is not well appreciate from the players and the fans as well. Looking at their current situation, I’m much closer to think it will be the end of one era, instead they’ll improve somehow. They’re also lost one key player, Wayne Routledge (and also to Newcastle). Rangers are without on-loan striker Marcus Bent, while midfielder Mikele Leigertwood is suspended, but defender Peter Ramage is back after serving a one-match ban and left-back Gary Borrowdale has recovered from an injury. QPR have picked up one point out of a possible 15 since Mick Harford took over as care taker and they are without a win in seven away matches. 

I see some consistency in Coventry’s results and in my opinion is they’re clear favorites today. My only limitation is QPR’s bad habit to shine and put a Champions League performance when no one expect. However, in my opinion any positive reaction from the players today would be a first class surprise. Following all my reasons, only conclusion is a home win.

Darren Pratley's two goals condemned Sean McAuley to a losing start as Sheffield Wednesday caretaker boss.
The midfielder took just five minutes to put Swansea in charge, Gorka Pintado laying the ball on for Pratley to take in his stride and beat Lee Grant. 
Wednesday rallied and it took a good save from Dorus de Vries to keep out Jermaine Johnson's fierce shot. 
But the Owls then struggled and Pratley struck a second goal, meeting Nathan Dyer's low cross at the near post. 
Wednesday parted company with Brian Laws last weekend but McAuley was unable to inspire an improvement as Swansea maintained their push for promotion. 
The Owls are now winless in the last 10, having lost the last six and face the harsh reality of relegation if they do not make drastic improvements.

QPR 1 - 1 Sheff Utd
New Queens Park Rangers manager Paul Hart saw his side draw with Sheffield United in his first game in charge.
Mikele Leigertwood opened the scoring for the home side with a right-footed strike from the edge of the area after just two minutes. 
Toni Kallio set up Richard Cresswell to fire home from close range for the equaliser six minutes later. 
Ben Watson headed against the crossbar in injury-time for the home side but both teams had to settle for a point. 
QPR manager Paul Hart:
"I thought we played extremely well. In the second half we were excellent, it was wave after wave. 
"I work with players to try to help them improve. I'm here to steady the ship. 
"I think this is a great club and it's a privilege to be working here." 
Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell:
"We talked about it in the week, it's not the time to be playing a team when a new manager walks through the door. 
"The players have got to show them what we are about. 
"All the talk was about QPR but my players were very resilient and did a professional job."

QPR - Sheffield United

Paul Hart will have his debut as a manager, but also will have to cope with bad shape of his players, injury worries and strong opponent. Rangers are in run of five games without a win, three defeat and two draws. More disturbing is a fact till the previous round their performances didn’t look as top club’s at all. At Monday against WBA on the road, Rangers were defending whole hour than took a lucky lead after an own-goal. With a wind in the back score another and were keeping the lead till 94^th minute when conceded for a draw. So, their shape is far from promotion chasers and with not so good dressing room atmosphere, Hart will have a difficult job to make a harmony in the team. Also, he will hand a number of players late fitness tests (didn’t precise who, but defender Matt Connolly is one of them). Key midfielder Akos Buzsaky is expected to miss out again with a knee problem. But, good news full-back Gary Borrowdale should return after missing Monday's draw and midfielder Steven Reid is also close after two weeks out with a hamstring injury. Goalkeeper Radek Cerny will be available despite jarring his ankle attempting a goal-kick against and striker Angelo Balanta is fit after a groin injury.Midfielders Gavin Mahon, Lee Cook and Martin Rowlands (all knee) are long-term absentees.

 

Before the season started, Blades were considered as one of the clubs that should fight for a direct promotion. Thankfully to injury crisis that was shaking the club in October, United noticed eight games without a win and dropped in the bottom half of the table. But as the players started to recover, United started to collect the points, have made a run of six games without a defeat (four wins and two draws) and have kept clean sheets in four of the last five. Currently hold eighth place and with a win today would make a break into top six. However, boss Kevin Blackwell also has some injury concerns and also refused to name them. The most important is condition of key striker Darius Henderson who missed the last three matches, but it seems he’ll appear today. Midfielder Nick Montgomery is back in contention after serving a one-match ban.

 

QPR have a quality for a top challenge for sure, perhaps syndrome of new manager will make some good impact, but problem with them is they don’t look as a squad. Most of their goals came after individual efforts, while defense line looks shaky and have been leaking a lot. They deserved this odd just for stopping WBA. Blades are permanently improving the shape and results and I expect them in top six very soon if not today. They also gain a style of play that doesn’t suit to QPR who also will have some problems with their passing play on the bad pitch. Pinnacle offer 3.09. Dnb 2 look safe, away win as a gamble.

West Brom 2 - 2 QPR

Simon Cox scored an equaliser deep into injury time to salvage a deserved draw for West Brom against QPR.
The visitors, with Steve Gallen and Marc Bircham in charge, went ahead when Jonas Olsson's attempted clearing header looped into his own net. 
Kaspars Gorkss doubled the lead with a simple header after a mistake by Dean Kiely but Jerome Thomas pulled one back with a swivelling shot. 
And Cox snatched a point when he tapped in a rebound in the 94th minute. 
The result will be hard to take for Rangers' novice managerial duo, who took charge with Jim Magilton suspended following his alleged altercation with Akos Busaky after the defeat against Watford. 
West Brom, meanwhile, may have missed the chance to make up genuine ground at the top of the table but manager Roberto Di Matteo will be relieved to have taken anything from a game they seemed destined to lose.

West Brom manager Roberto Di Matteo:
"The way the game went a point is better than nothing. I'm trying to look at the positive side of it.
"The players fought really hard for the point. I thought we deserved a little bit more as well, we had some very good chances but didn't quite manage to score. 
"We've definitely been leaking too many goals in the last three games." 
QPR temporary manager Steve Gallen:
"I don't know what is going to happen. I just got told last week and it feels like the longest week ever.
"I don't know if I'm charge for Saturday's game (at home to Sheffield United). 
"I don't know when I'll find out. I saw something yesterday and it said the club are meeting with Jim and something will be decided over the next 48 hours. 
"I welcome that, definitely. I'm sure people on the outside at QPR want to see things resolved quickly - we all do on the inside. 
"I also saw some things during the week about chaos at QPR - that's absolute nonsense. I've not seen any chaos at the training ground."

WBA ended their unbeaten run of six games with defeat against Cardiff, last weekend. Decent display stayed unrewarded and I don’t think they could fall into crisis of results. Goalkeeper Scott Carson is suspended because the red card and will be replaced with veteran Dean Kiely.

 

Rangers are in big problems. Club’s owner is under the investigation, manager has been suspended for hitting midfielder Akos Buzsaky who is one of the key players and he has been ruled out of the game. They have three defeats in last four games. First, lost in Doncaster. Than were defending a draw at home against weak Coventry, than were humiliated at home against Boro 1-5 and in last game another defeat against Watford.

Wigan 1 - 0 West Ham

Hugo Rodallega earned Wigan their first League win since the opening day of the season in a scrappy game with West Ham.
Apart from Chris Kirkland struggling to deal with back passes and Robert Green saving two long-range shots, neither keeper was busy in a tepid first half. 
Rodallega poked home from close range on 55 minutes after Green had blocked Jason Koumas's shot. 
West Ham substitute Alessandro Diamanti livened things up and hit the post but Wigan deserved the win.
Wigan manager Roberto Martinez:
"The way the players adapted to what was needed was exceptional, we had to stop West Ham playing their football which was a big test, so a clean sheet and three points is what we deserved."
West Ham manager Gianfranco Zola:
"In the first half I thought we controlled the game well and we looked better than them. 
"The goal was sloppy, we didn't start the second half in the same frame of mind that we did the first - that's something we need to work on."

QPR 1 - 1 Peterborough

Peterborough are still waiting for their first win of the new season after Wayne Routledge's equaliser cancelled out Aaron Mclean's opener.
Mclean headed in Tommy Williams's cross and only Ben Watson's challenge stopped Lee Frecklington making it 2-0. 
Adel Taarabt and Jay Simpson set up Routledge to tap in before the break. 
Simpson wasted a great chance to win it on 85 minutes and in injury time only an offside flag denied Peterborough's Craig Mackail-Smith a winner.
QPR boss Jim Magilton:
"Any successful campaign is built around your home form. 
"Our play at times is good but that's not enough, especially at home where expectation levels rise. 
"You've got to be able to handle that and maybe some can't." 
Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson:
"I thought we deserved three points. 
"You always need a bit of luck and we are just not getting it at the moment. 
"But there is no time to feel sorry for ourselves. As long as we keep putting in performances like that then we will get the wins."

QPR - Peterborough

QPR made another disappointing start, in season where the expectations are higher than ever. Club have financial power (from Formula One) and lots of money have been invested in the squad so far. So, a win, a defeat and three draws is not something that Flavio Briatore and others in the club expected. Both games at their home, Loftus Road, ended with 1-1 draws (Blackpool and Nottingham Forest) and this is a nice opportunity for a first win. Team have been additionally strengthened with four loan players from Premier League. Last one is highly rated Arsenal’s teenager Jay Simpson which task will be to give Rangers more firepower. Before him, club have signed two midfielders, Ben Watson (from Wigan) and Adel Taarabt (from Tottenham) and goalie Tom Heaton (Man.Utd.). In last game, against Scunthorpe on the road, squad showed signs of progress beating the hosts 1-0. Mentioned Moroccan, Adel Taarabt, netted the only goal at Glanford Park with just three minutes on the clock and the rest of the game QPR successfully kept the result and important three points. Good news for boss Jim Magilton is skipper Martin Rowlands is back after an ankle injury. But Magilton will miss youngster Angelo Balanta (midfielder) who is still out with an ankle injury and defender Fitz Hall who has been sidelined by a groin problem.

Peterborough are noticing not so good debut in English Championship. Just two points from possible 15. Three defeats (Derby 1-2 away, WBA 2-3 at home and Preston North End 0-2 away) and two home draws (Sheffield Wednesday and Crystal Palace, both 1-1). During the transfer market, club didn’t buy a lot, backing on own forces. That formula was bringing a success to Posh in lower divisions, but it seems, the second tier is to big obstacle for this players. Darren Ferguson’s biggest problem is shaky defense line which conceded nine goals so far (the most of them at the start of the match) and short bench. As QPR, they also made a good performance in last round, after being held to a 1-1 draw by favored Crystal Palace. Also, good news for Ferguson come from his medical service as winger Chris Whelpdale could make his first start of the season after a hernia operation, while defender Jamie Day is back in the squad after impressing in the reserve squad match and midfielder Dean Keates is close to match fitness. Today, Posh won’t attack to much. They’ll wait a chance for a counter attack through the flanks, using their key man George Boyd and attacking left-back Tommy Williams.

QPR definitely have the quality for the top half of the table, maybe even something more from that. Previous season was wasted, now it is the time for them to finally start to show their full potential. Better opponent for that, they couldn’t wish. Pinnacle offer 1.83. Home win.
